Course Overview
​
The Marlboro Hybrid Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) Night Course will commence on May 20, 2026 at 7:00 PM. This is an intensive hybrid-format program that requires a substantial commitment to independent study, online coursework, and in-person practical skills training.
Prior to the start of the course, an orientation session will be held to review course requirements, payment details, and expectations, and to ensure all students are fully prepared to enroll.

Registration does not guarantee a seat. Applicants will be contacted directly regarding enrollment status.

A nonrefundable $100 deposit is required for all students who wish to register. This deposit is used to order the required textbook and online access code and will be applied toward tuition.

Students must email a copy of their BLS Healthcare Provider / Professional Rescuer or Lifeguard CPR certification prior to the start of the course.

All class sessions are mandatory.

Course Location
​
Classes are held at the Marlboro EMS Squad, located at:
140 Wyncrest Road, Marlboro, NJ
(Corner of Wyncrest Road and Stone Lane)
Per state regulations, students may not arrive more than 15 minutes late to any class session. Please plan travel time accordingly.

Course Expectations
​
This course is extremely labor-intensive and is equivalent to 1–2 college-level courses (or approximately two college-level courses). Students must be able to study independently and dedicate sufficient time outside of class.

Students read an average of 200 pages per week
-
Expect 10–15 hours per week of reading and online coursework
-
The program includes minimal lecture, with emphasis on hands-on practical skills
-
Students must complete a 10-hour hospital emergency department clinical rotation
-
SAFE-T has an agreement with Bayshore Medical Center for student clinical placements
-

All coursework is reinforced during classroom sessions and required skills labs

Technology & Equipment Requirements

Students must have:

Reliable internet access

An internet-connected device (laptop or tablet) brought to class

A watch with a second hand
Cell phones may not be used for coursework or class activities.

Eligibility Requirements
​
-
Students must be at least 16 years old prior to the first day of class — no exceptions.
​
Attendance Policy
​
Attendance at ALL class sessions is mandatory in accordance with NJAC 8:40A-6.8.

Students must sign in and sign out for every class session
-
Arriving after class has begun will result in being marked late
-
Arriving more than 15 minutes late results in being marked absent
-
Attendance requires being physically present and awake at all times
-
Students who fall asleep will be asked to leave and marked absent
-
Students must be physically capable of performing all essential tasks outlined in the curriculum
In the event of a true emergency (e.g., medical emergency or death of an immediate family member), students must notify the Lead Instructor or Program Coordinator to determine if a makeup session is possible.

Makeup sessions may cost up to $35 per hour for instructor time
-
Reasonable accommodation may be provided for unforeseen emergencies
Life events are not considered emergencies. No accommodations will be made for events including, but not limited to:

Priority is given to private-pay and agency-pay students

Payment details will be reviewed during orientation, approximately two weeks prior to the start of class

All students must register through our website under “Register for a Course.” Once your application is received, you will be contacted with additional information.

Academic Responsibility & Tuition Policy
​
This course is not offered on a prorated basis. Students must pay tuition in full.

Failure to pass all cognitive or psychomotor evaluations results in forfeiture of all tuition
-
No refunds are issued for failure to complete course requirements
-
Students who withdraw voluntarily are not entitled to any refund
-
If sponsored by a squad or agency:
-
Reimbursement responsibility lies solely with the student
-
SAFE-T does not reimburse sponsoring agencies
-

Students are responsible for giving 100% effort and meeting all academic standards

Refund Policy

10 or more days prior to class start: 100% refund minus $100 administrative fee
-
Less than 10 days prior: 50% refund minus $100 administrative fee
-
On or after class start: No refunds
-
Once the online book/course code is activated: No refunds on the book under any circumstances

Certification & Exam Information
​
Upon successful completion of the EMT program, students will be marked eligible for certification testing.

Exams are scheduled through NREMT
-
Exam fees are approximately $100–$110 per attempt
-
NJ Training Fund students have their first attempt covered
-
Subsequent attempts are not covered
-
Students must attend their selected exam date
-
Rescheduling or no-shows will incur additional fees
-
No exceptions to these policies

Acceptable CPR certifications include:

American Heart Association – BLS Provider

Students with an IEP written within the last 5 years that specifies extended testing time will receive 1.5× testing time for written exams, including the state exam
